Artist Statement
"Kākahu kura (kākā-feather cloak) inspired by an original taonga “Te Huringa II” by Makurata Patini of Ngāi Tūhoe 1906. My version Te Hiringa (The perserverance) is an artwork that represents my journey and perserverance to reclaim mātauranga Māori. This cloak is made up of feathers and fur traditionally gathered over a long period of time, much like that of the knowledge passed down from older generations"
